Prohibition of unqualified persons attending women in childbirth. 30.(1) Subject to subsection (2), [if a person other than (a)a woman who is a certified midwife, or (b)in a place approved in writing by or on behalf of the Department a man who is a certified midwife], (2) Subsection (1) shall not apply to any person who, while undergoing training to become a doctor, a midwife or a nurse, attends a woman in childbirth as part of a course of practical instruction in midwifery recognised by the General Medical Council or the Council, if the attendance by that person is in accordance with the provisions regulating the course of study of midwifery as recognised by the General Medical Council or the rules relating to the training of midwives made by the Council.
