Informal use of services. 6.(1) Nothing in this Act shall be construed as preventing a patient who requires treatment for mental disorder from being admitted to any hospital or private hospital, or from making use of any of the services provided under this Act for persons requiring special care, in pursuance of arrangements made in that behalf and without any notice, application, order or direction rendering him liable to be detained or so treated under this Act, or from remaining in any hospital or private hospital or being treated as such a person in pursuance of such arrangements after he has ceased to be liable to be so detained or treated. (2) Where an infant who has attained the age of sixteen years is capable of expressing his own wishes, any such arrangements as are mentioned in sub-section (1) may be made, carried out and determined notwithstanding any right of custody or control vested by law in his parent or guardian.
