Additional powers in respect of children and young persons. 49.(1) If in the case of a child or young person brought before a juvenile court under [section ninety-four]... of the Children and Young Persons Act (Northern Ireland), [1968] (a)the court is satisfied that the child or young person is in need of care [, protection or control;]...; and (b)the conditions which, under section forty-eight, are required to be satisfied for the making of a hospital order or guardianship order in respect of a person convicted as therein mentioned are, so far as applicable, satisfied in the case of the child or young person; Subs.(2) rep. by 1968 c.34 (NI) s.181(3) sch.8 (3) Where a hospital order is made by virtue of this section in respect of a child or young person, the court may also make an order committing him to the care of a fit person under the Children and Young Persons Act (Northern Ireland), [1968]; but except as aforesaid an order shall not be made under [section ninety-five]... of that Act in conjunction with a hospital order or guardianship order.
