Expenses of district councils in connection with war memorials. 7.[(1) [A district council] (a)may incur reasonable expenditure (i)in the alteration of any war memorial so as to make it serve as a memorial in connection with any war subsequent to that in connection with which it was erected; and (ii)in the correction of any error or omission in the inscription on any such memorial; (b)subject to the approval of the Ministry (i)may maintain, repair, protect and light any war memorial whether vested in them or not; (ii)may erect a war memorial either alone or jointly with any other such council or councils.] (2) Any expenditure to be incurred by a council under this section shall be limited to an amount from time to time approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs, ... (3) The provisions of this section shall not apply to a war memorial provided or maintained by a council in the exercise of any other statutory power. S.8 rep. by 1948 c.4 (NI) s.28(2).
