Arrest of bankrupt about to quit Ireland, or to remove or conceal his goods. 124. Whenever any petition of bankruptcy shall have been filed against any person, and it shall be proved to the satisfaction of the Court that there is probable cause for believing that such person has quitted or is about to quit Ireland, or has removed [any goods or chattels in his possession above the value of #120 without the leave of the official assignee] or is about to remove or conceal any of his goods or chattels, with intent to defraud his creditors, unless he be forthwith apprehended, it shall be lawful for the Court to issue a warrant [authorising the arrest and commitment to prison of] the person against whom such petition shall have been filed, and also to seize his books, papers, monies, securities for monies, goods and chattels, wheresoever he or they may be found, and him and them safely keep until such person shall be discharged by the Court: Provided always, that any person arrested upon any such warrant, or whose books, papers, monies, securities for monies, goods or chattels, have been seized under any such warrant, may apply to the Court for an order on the petitioning creditor to show cause why the person arrested should not be discharged out of custody, or why his books, papers, monies, securities for monies, goods, and chattels should not be delivered up to him; and it shall be lawful for such Court to make absolute or discharge such order.
