Names of owners to be painted on fishing boats. 163.(1) Every boat used for fishing, other than a fishing boat excepted from the application of this section by subsection (3), shall have upon some conspicuous place thereof the name of the owner, or of one of the owners where more than one, and of his place of residence, painted in clear legible characters or letters of not less than two inches in length. (2) If, in respect of any boat to which this section applies the provisions of subsection (1) are not complied with, the owner of the boat or any person using it shall be guilty of an offence. (3) This section shall not apply to any fishing boat registered under Part IV of the Merchant Shipping Act 1894 or to any boat which, so far as it is used for fishing, is used solely for catching fish otherwise than for profit.
