Importation of horses, dogs and cats. 20.(1) Dogs and cats imported from a country other than Great Britain, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or the Irish Republic and imported horses shall unless the Ministry by order otherwise provides be landed only under and in accordance with the conditions of a licence issued by the Ministry and shall, unless otherwise provided by the order or the licence, be subject to the provisions of the Third Schedule other than Part I thereof. (2) Except as otherwise provided by sub-section (1) or by an order of the Ministry, imported dogs and cats shall not be subject to the provisions of the Third Schedule. (3) A licence shall be issued under sub-section (1) only in such circumstances and in accordance with such conditions as the Ministry may by order prescribe. Import in special cases allowed without slaughter but subject to quarantine.
