Dangerous dogs may be destroyed. 2.(1) Any court of summary jurisdiction may take cognizance of a complaint that a dog is dangerous, and not kept under proper control, and if it appears to the court having cognizance of such complaint that such dog is dangerous, the court may make an order in a summary way directing the dog to be kept by the owner under proper control or destroyed, and any person failing to comply with such order shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding [#2] for every day during which he fails to comply with such order. [(2) For the purpose of proceedings under this section any transfer of ownership of a dog after the date of any event giving rise to the complaint that the dog is dangerous shall not prejudice or affect the power of the court to make an order under this section and an order under this section may be directed against any owner for the time being of the dog or any other person having the dog in his custody, charge or possession. (3) An order made under this section shall be served on such persons as the court may direct.] S.3 rep. by 1975 NI 3 art.11 sch.
