87.(1) Where a court orders a child to be sent to a training school, the order shall be an authority for his detention in a training school until the expiration of a period of three years from the date of the order or until the expiration of four months after he attains the upper limit of compulsory school age whichever is the later. (2) Where a court orders a young person to be sent to a training school, the order shall be an authority for his detention in a training school (a)if at the date of the order he has not attained the age of sixteen, until the expiration of a period of three years from the date of the order; and (b)if at the date of the order he has attained the age of sixteen, until he attains the age of nineteen. [(3) Where a person liable to be detained in a training school under a training school or other order is ordered to be detained in a young offenders centre, the training school or other order shall cease to have effect.]
