CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1968 - SECT 27

Vagrants preventing children from receiving education.

27.(1) If a person habitually wanders from place to place and takes with him

(a)any child who has attained the age of five; or

(b)any young person who has not attained the upper limit of
compulsory school age;

(2) Any constable who finds a person wandering from place to place and taking
a child or young person with him, may, if he has reasonable ground for
believing that the person is guilty of an offence under this section,
apprehend him without a warrant, and may take the child or young person to a
place of safety in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
