Financial assistance towards expenses of maintenance, education or training of persons over seventeen. 121.(1) [The Ministry of Home Affairs] may, ..., provide hostels for persons (a)who are over compulsory school age but have not attained the age of twenty-one; and (b)who are, or have at any time after ceasing to be of compulsory school age been, in the care of [the Ministry]; (2) [The Ministry of Home Affairs] may accommodate in hostels provided under this section persons who fulfil the conditions specified in paragraph (a), but not those specified in paragraph (ba), of subsection (1), as well as persons who fulfil the conditions specified in both those paragraphs; and [the Ministry], in determining how much hostel accommodation to provide under subsection (1), shall have regard to the desirability of facilitating the association of persons who fulfil the conditions specified in both those paragraphs with persons who do not.
