Re-enactment of part of repealed Act. 2. Notwithstanding the repeal of the aforesaid Act of the Irish Parliament, it shall equally continue and shall be an offence punishable with fine and imprisonment, or with one only of such punishments, at the discretion of the Court before which the offender is convicted, for any person or persons, either as elector, candidate, or representative, to take part in the election or proceedings of any assembly, other than Parliament as by law constituted, which shall propose to take or shall take upon itself, or wilfully permit to be attributed to it the functions of either House of Parliament, or any of them, or having for its object or tendency to bring Parliament into hatred or contempt. This Act shall not exempt any person from any proceeding for an offence punishable at common law or under any statute.
