Definitions. 29.(1) All enactments, orders, instruments, contracts, and other documents relating to any powers or duties transferred by or in pursuance of this Act from any authority to the Department shall, so far as circumstances admit, be construed as if any reference therein to the said authority, so far as it relates to the said powers and duties referred to the Department, and shall be construed with such modifications as may be necessary for carrying this Act into effect, and any act or thing which, but for this Act might have been done by, to, or before any such authority, for the purpose of, or in connexion with the said powers and duties may be done by, to, or before the Department. (2) The expression "authority" in this section means the Department of Science and Art, the Lord Lieutenant (whether acting alone or by the advice of the Privy Council), the Chief Secretary, the Under Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant, the Irish Land Commission, the Registrar-General for Ireland, the Inspectors of Irish Fisheries, the Board of National Education, and any other Government Department, or board of commissioners whose powers or duties are transferred by or in pursuance of this Act.
