1. The issue to be determined by the tribunal was whether the claimant was entitled to a redundancy payment following the termination of his employment by reason of redundancy on 24 April 2010.
2. The claimant was employed by the respondent Shopmobility Bangor Ltd, in Bloomfield Shopping Centre, controlling the booking in and out of electric cars, scooters and wheelchairs to members of Shopmobility from 19 July 1999. His employment was terminated with effect from 24 April 2010 due to insolvency. At the date of the effective termination the claimant was seventy-six years old, had ten full years service and his gross weekly pay was £183.00 per week. Having read the documentation and heard the submissions of the claimant the tribunal is satisfied that he is entitled to be paid a redundancy payment by the respondent amounting to £2,745.00 calculated as follows:-
10 full years service x £183.00 x 1.5 (age multiplier)
