DECISION
I hereby declare that the claimant is entitled to a redundancy payment in the sum of £1,440.00.
The respondent is also ordered to pay damages to the claimant for breach of contract for failure to give notice or to make a payment in lieu of notice in the sum of £776.00.

Reasons
The claimant was dismissed by the respondent on 29 April 2005 when the respondent company ceased trading. He was aged 45 at the date of his dismissal. He had been employed by the respondent from 11 December 2000 until 29 April 2005.
The claimant was not given notice or pay in lieu of notice, nor has he been paid the redundancy payment to which he is entitled.
The amounts awarded are computed as follows:
Redundancy Pay
£240.00 x 6 weeks = £1,440.00
Pay in lieu of notice
£194.00 x 4 weeks = £776.00
This is a relevant decision for the purposes of the Industrial Tribunals (Interest) Order (Northern Ireland) 1990.
