The claimant appeared in person and was not represented.
The respondent company was represented by Mr J Alghazy QC (England and Wales) instructed by Tughans, Solicitors.
1 The claimant’s claim against the respondent company of discrimination on the ground of his religious belief is dismissed.
2(i) The Tribunal orders that the claimant do pay to the respondent company the sum of £4,000.00, together with VAT thereon in the amount of £800.00 (a total of £4,800.00) in respect of costs incurred by the latter.
(ii) The Tribunal is satisfied that the claimant, in bringing and conducting these proceedings, acted unreasonably, and that the bringing and conducting of these proceedings was misconceived.
(iii) In making this award, the Tribunal had regard to the evidence and information which was available to it about the claimant’s means.
(iv) In view of the Order made at Sub-paragraph (i) above, the Tribunal sets aside the Order for Costs previously made against the claimant in favour of the respondent company at the Case Management Discussion on 21 May 2014 and which is set out at Paragraph 4 of the Record of Proceedings dated 23 May 2014.
