Sentencing by the Inferior Number of the Royal Court, following a guilty plea to the following charge:
First Indictment

Possession of a controlled drug, contrary to Article 8(1) of the Misuse of Drugs (Jersey) Law 1978 (Count 2). |
Age: 53.
Plea: Guilty.
Details of Offence:
On 19th May, 2016, officers from to the States of Jersey Police Drug Unit executed a search warrant at the defendant's address. The defendant, and his co-accused, ("Edwards"), were present in the flat. Edwards was found to be in possession of £1,015. A carrier bag containing about 500g of cannabis resin was found wedged in the partially open kitchen window. A small lump of cannabis resin (weighing 208 mg) was also recovered.
The defendant told interviewing officers that he had invited Edwards to his flat to help him mend a table. Both men denied all knowledge of the cannabis recovered from his flat.
Subsequently the defendant entered a guilty plea to Count 2 (possession of 208 mg of cannabis resin), but not guilty pleas to the remaining counts. His pleas were accepted. Edwards entered guilty pleas to possession with intent to supply in relation to the cannabis resin found wedged in the window, and to possession of the cannabis found in his flat. His pleas were also accepted.

THE BAILIFF:
1. Mr Povey, on the count of possession of cannabis you are sentenced to 2 weeks' imprisonment which will result in your immediate release as you have served time already.
2. We order the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.
