Criminal Procedure-stay of proceedings-abuse of process-proceedings stayed for abuse of process if (a) fair trial impossible; or (b) unfair to try accused-no stay if fair trial possible with judge's assistance, e.g. by excluding evidence or direction to jury-fair trial of old sexual offences possible, despite inaccurate and sensationalist media reporting of Jersey historic child abuse inquiry, as inaccuracy since corrected; defendants not linked to reports; and jurors trusted to ignore it
