I, STEPHEN DONNELLY, Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 (2) of the Health (Amendment) Act 2023 (No. 7 of 2023), hereby order as follows: | ||
1. This Order may be cited as the Health (Amendment) Act 2023 (Commencement) Order 2023. | ||
2. The 17th day of April 2023 is appointed as the day on which the Health (Amendment) Act 2023 (No.7 of 2023) shall come into operation. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||

This Order appoints the 17th of April 2023 as the day on which the Health (Amendment) Act 2023 will come into operation. Section 1 repeals Section 53C of the Health Act 1970 and provides for removal of the existing charge for acute public in-patient services (€80 per day). Section 1 also revokes the Health (Acute In-Patient Charges) Regulations 2021 ( S.I. No. 213 of 2021 ). |
