I, SIMON HARRIS, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by
section 36
of the
Technological Universities Act 2018
(No. 3 of 2018) and the Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2020 (
S.I. No. 451 of 2020
), hereby make the following order with respect to which, pursuant to section 3 of that Act, a draft has been laid before each House of the Oireachtas and a resolution approving of the draft has been passed by each such House:

1. This Order may be cited as the Technological Universities Act 2018 (Section 36) (Appointed Day) (No.2) Order 2022.
|
| |
2. The 1st day of May 2022 is appointed to be the appointed day for the purpose of
section 36
of the
Technological Universities Act 2018
(No. 3 of 2018) and this Order.
|
| |
3. On the appointed day referred to in Article 2 –
|
| |
(a) the following applicant institutes shall stand dissolved:
|
| |
(i) Waterford Institute of Technology;
|
| |
(ii) Institute of Technology, Carlow,
|
| |
and
|
| |
(b) the technological university known by the following name shall stand established:
|
| |
(i) in the English language, South East Technological University;
|
| |
(ii) in the Irish language, Ollscoil Teicneolaíochta an Oirdheiscirt.
