I, SIMON HARRIS, Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 7 and subsections (3) and (4) of section 98 (as amended by
section 41
of the
Health Act 1953
(No. 26 of 1953)) of the
Health Act 1947
(No. 28 of 1947) (as adapted by the Health and Children (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 (
S.I. No. 219 of 2011
)), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Consultative Council on Hepatitis C (Membership) Order 2017.
|
| |
2. The Consultative Council on Hepatitis C (Establishment) Order 1996 (
S.I. No. 339 of 1996
) is amended by substituting for Article 5 the following:
|

“5.The Council shall consist of 8 members appointed by the Minister, of whom—
|
| |
(a) two shall be appointed on the nomination of Transfusion Positive,
|
| |
(b) two shall be appointed on the nomination of the Irish Haemophilia Society,
|
| |
(c) two shall be appointed as representatives of those who contracted Hepatitis C through the administration of Anti-D Immunoglobulin in the State, and
|
| |
(d) one shall be appointed on the nomination of the Irish Kidney Association.”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
|
| |

This Order amends the Consultative Council on Hepatitis C (Establishment) Order 1996 and has the effect of inserting a general descriptive term for women who contracted Hepatitis C through the administration of Anti-D in the State and provides for two representatives of this group to be Members of the council.
