I, SIMON COVENEY, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to Directive 2014/63/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 May 20141 , hereby make the following regulations: |

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Marketing of Honey) (Amendment) Regulations 2015. |
||
2. The European Communities (Marketing of Honey) Regulations 2003 ( S.I. No. 367 of 2003 ) are amended- |
||
(a) in Regulation 2(1) by substituting for the definition of "Council Directive" the following- |
||
"‘Council Directive’ means Council Directive 2001/110/EC of 20 December 20012 as amended by Directive 2014/63/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 May 2014;", and |
||
(b) by substituting for Regulation 4 the following- |
||
"4.(1) A person shall not place honey on the market unless it complies with Articles 2 and 3 of the Council Directive. |
||
(2) A person may place honey manufactured before 1 August 2004 on the market in accordance with the Regulations revoked by Regulation 10 until stocks are exhausted. |
||
(3) A person may place honey produced or labelled before 24 June 2015 on the market in accordance with Article 3 of Directive 2014/63/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 May 2014 until stocks are exhausted.". |

These Regulations update existing Legislation relating to the marketing of honey. |
