I, LEO VARADKAR, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purposes of giving further effect to Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 February 20041 , hereby make the following regulations: |

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Compensation and Assistance to Air Passengers) (Denied Boarding, Cancellation or Long Delay of Flights) Regulations 2011. |
||
2. The Aviation Regulation Act 2001 is amended by inserting after section 45A(6) the following: |
||
"(7) For the purpose of the exercise of jurisdiction in relation to an offence under this section, the act constituting the offence shall be deemed to have been committed within the area of the Dublin Metropolitan District.". |

The purpose of these Regulations is to provide that proceedings for offences under S.45(a) of the Aviation Regulation Act 2001 are commenced in the Dublin Metropolitan District Court, regardless of where the offence was committed. The Aviation Regulation Act 2001 was amended by the Aviation Act 2006 . |
