I, John O’ Donoghue, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 ( No. 27 of 1972 ) hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Acquisition and Possession of Weapons and Ammunition) (Amendment) Regulations 2002. 2. The European Communities (Acquisition and Possession of Weapons and Ammunition) Regulations 1993 ( S.I. No. 362 of 1993 ) are amended in paragraph 7(4) by inserting “or the appropriate Superintendent” after “Minister”. |

These Regulations provide for a consequential amendment to Section 7 (4) of the European Communities (Acquisition and Possession of Weapons and Ammunition) Regulations, 1993, following the transfer from the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to the Garda Síochána of the power to grant firearm certificates to non-residents under the provisions of the Firearms (Firearm Certificates for Non-Residents) Act 2000 . |
