I, Joe Walsh, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 29A(4) (inserted by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals (Amendment) Act, 2001 (No.3of 2001)) of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1999 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1999 )), and consider it reasonably necessary to avoid the outbreak of disease within the State, hereby order as follows: |

1. This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Section 29A(4)) (No. 3) Order, 2001 and shall come into operation on 14th June, 2001. |

2. Subsection (3) of section 29A (inserted by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) , shall have effect for the period of one month from the coming into operation of this Order within the whole of the State. |

The effect of this Order is to prohibit, for the period of one month from 14th June 2001, the movements of animals within 30 days of purchase, save under permit. |
