I, Joe Walsh, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 29A(4) (inserted by section 3 of the the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1999 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1999 )), and consider it reasonably necessary to avoid the outbreak of disease within the State, hereby order as follows: |

1. This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Section 29A(4))(No. 2) Order, 2001 and shall come into operation on 14 April, 2001. |

2. Subsection (3) of section 29A (inserted by section 3 of Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 , shall have effect for the period of two months from 14 April, 2001 within the whole of the State. |

The effect of this Order is to prohibit for a period of 2 months from the 14th April, 2001 the movement of animals within 30 days of purchase save under permit. |
