S.I. No. 527/1998:

ECONOMIC AND MONETARY UNION ACT, 1998 (CERTAIN PROVISIONS) (COMMENCEMENT) (NO. 2) ORDER, 1998

ECONOMIC AND MONETARY UNION ACT, 1998 (CERTAIN PROVISIONS) (COMMENCEMENT) (NO. 2) ORDER, 1998

I, Charlie McCreevy, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Economic and Monetary Union Act, 1998 (No. 38 of 1998), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Economic and Monetary Union Act, 1998 (Certain Provisions) (Commencement) (No. 2) Order, 1998.

2. In respect of the provisions of Part II of the Economic and Monetary Union Act, 1998 (No. 38 of 1998), which are not in operation, the 1st day of January, 1999, is hereby appointed as the day on which those provisions, other than section 11 (2), shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This order appoints 1 January 1999 as the day on which all sections of the Economic and Monetary Union Act, 1998 which have not yet come into operation, with the exception of section 11 (2), will come into operation.
