I, GERARD COLLINS T.D., Minister for Foreign Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Extradition (European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism) Act, 1987 (No. 1 of 1987 ), hereby order as follows: |
||
1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Extradition (European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism) Act, 1987 (Designation of Convention Countries) (Amendment) Order, 1990. |
||
(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 10th day of May, 1990. |
||
2. The Extradition (European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism) Act, 1987 (Designation of Convention Countries) Order, 1989 ( S.I. No. 115 of 1989 ), is hereby amended by the insertion in the Schedule of "Finland" after "Denmark excluding the Faroe Islands and Greenland". |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The European Convention on the Suppression of Terrorism entered into force in Ireland on 22 May, 1989. |
||
This Convention, which has implications for extradition, is being implemented in the State on foot of Ministerial Orders which designate those States which are also parties to the Convention. |
||
The effect of this Order is to enable extradition to take place with Finland pursuant to the said Convention. |
