ALIENS (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1990. |

I, RAY BURKE, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 5 of the Aliens Act, 1935 (No. 14 of 1935), hereby order as follows: |
||
1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Aliens (Amendment) Order, 1990. |
||
(2) The Aliens Orders, 1946 to 1989, and this Order may be cited together as the Aliens Orders, 1946 to 1990, and shall be construed together as one Order. |
||
(3) The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. |
||
(4) This Order shall come into operation on the 26th day of February, 1990. |
||
2. The Principal Order is hereby amended by substitution of the following Article for Article 5A (inserted by the Aliens (Amendment) Order, 1988 ( S.I. No. 55 of 1988 )): |
||
"5 A An alien coming from a place outside the State other than Great Britain or Northern Ireland who is a citizen of Iran, Poland, Bulgaria or Sri Lanka shall not enter a port in the State for the purposes of transit unless he is the holder of a valid Irish transit visa". |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
This Order requires citizens of Iran, Poland, Bulgaria and Sri Lanka to have a valid Irish transit visa for the purposes of transitting the State with effect from 26th February, 1990. |
