I, JOHN P. WILSON, Minister for Tourism and Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 5 , 9 and 11 of the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 1946 (No. 23 of 1946) (as amended by section 9 of the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 1950 (No. 4 of 1950)), and the Communications (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) (No. 2) Order, 1987 ( S.I. No. 92 of 1987 ), hereby order as follows: |

1. This Order may be cited as the Air Navigation (Carriage of Munitions of War, Weapons and Dangerous Goods) (Amendment) Order, 1989. |
||
2. The Air Navigation (Carriage of Munitions of War, Weapons and Dangerous Goods) Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 224 of 1973 ), and this Order may be cited together as the Air Navigation (Carriage of Munitions of War, Weapons and Dangerous Goods) Orders, 1973 and 1989, and shall be construed together as one. |

3. In this Order, the "Principal Order" means the Air Navigation (Carriage of Munitions of War, Weapons and Dangerous Goods) Order, 1973. |
||
4. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of August, 1989. |
||
The Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution for Article 5 of the following Article: |
||
"5. The Minister may, by direction, exempt a specified aircraft in regard to a particular aircraft operation from all or any of the provisions of Articles 6 or 7 of this Order." |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
This Order amends Article 5 of the Air Navigation (Carriage of Munitions of War, Weapons and Dangerous Goods) Order, 1973 to allow the Minister to specify the particular aircraft which he may exempt from any of the provisions of Article 6 or 7 of the aforementioned 1973 Order. |
