S.I. No. 387/1985:

DECIMAL CURRENCY ACT, 1969 (SECTION 2(3)) (APPOINTED DAY) ORDER, 1985.

DECIMAL CURRENCY ACT, 1969 (SECTION 2(3)) (APPOINTED DAY) ORDER, 1985.

I, ALAN M. DUKES, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 (3) of the Decimal Currency Act, 1969 (No. 23 of 1969), hereby make the following order.

1. This Order may be cited as the Decimal Currency Act, 1969 (Section 2(3)) (Appointed Day) Order, 1985.

2. The 2nd day of December 1985, is hereby appointed as the day on and after which, pursuant to section 2 (3) of the Decimal currency Act, 1969 (No. 23 of 1969), the new penny shall be known as the penny.

GIVEN under my Official Seal, this 28th day of November, 1985.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order ends the designation "new penny" as introduced by the Decimal Currency Act, 1969 . Henceforth the legal description of this denomination of money shall be the "penny".
