INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH AND STANDARDS (SECTION 44) (PERAMBULATORS AND PUSHCHAIRS) ORDER, 1981. |

I, DESMOND O'MALLEY, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 44 of the Industrial Research and Standards Act, 1961 , ( No. 20 of 1961 ) as adapted by the Industry, Commerce and Energy (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1980 ( S.I. No. 10 of 1980 ), hereby make the following Order: |

1. This Order may be cited as the Industrial Research and Standards (Section 44) (Perambulators and Pushchairs) Order, 1981. |

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 15th day of June, 1981. |
||||||||
3. In this Order “perambulator” and “pushchair” have the meanings assigned to them, respectively, by Irish Standard 209: 1980. |
||||||||
4. It shall be unlawful to manufacture, assemble or sell a perambulator or pushchair to which this Order applies unless it complies with Irish Standard 209: 1980 (being the standard specification for perambulators and pushchairs declared by the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards). |

5. This Order applies to any perambulator or pushchair which is intended for sale to the public in the State. |

The purpose of this Order is to prohibit the manufacture, assembly or sale of a perambulator or a pushchair unless it complies with the standard specification for perambulators and pushchairs declared by the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards. |
