S.I. No. 108/1980:

SOCIAL WELFARE (TREATMENT BENEFIT) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1980.

SOCIAL WELFARE (TREATMENT BENEFIT) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1980.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 3 and 25 (1) of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952), hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Treatment Benefit) (Amendment) Regulations, 1980 and shall come into operation on the 6th day of April, 1980.

(2) The Social Welfare (Treatment Benefit) Regulations, 1954 to 1979 and these Regulations may be cited collectively as the Social Welfare (Treatment Benefit) Regulations, 1954 to 1980.

2. Article 10 (2) of the Social Welfare (Treatment Benefit) Regulations, 1954 ( S.I. No. 156 of 1954 ) is hereby amended by the substitution in paragraph (a) (as inserted therein by the Social Welfare (Treatment Benefit) (Amendment) Regulations, 1960 ( S.I. No. 43 of 1960 ) ) of "twenty three years" for "twenty-one years" in both places where it occurs.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide that, in the case of insured persons under 23 years of age, the number of weeks of insurable employment in the first contribution condition is reduced from 156 to 26.
