BEE PEST PREVENTION (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1978. |

I, JAMES M. GIBBONS, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 6 of the Bee Pest Prevention (Ireland) Act, 1908, and section 4 of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), hereby make the following regulations: |

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Bee Pest Prevention (Amendment) Regulations, 1978. |
||||||||||||||||
2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations. |
||||||||||||||||
3. The Bee Pest Prevention (Ireland) Regulations, 1909, are hereby amended by the substitution for Regulation 10 (inserted by Regulation 2 of the Bee Pest Prevention (Ireland) Regulations 1971 ( S.I. No. 82 of 1971 ) of the following: |

"10 (1) Subject to paragraph (2) of this Regulation, compensation for the destruction of bees, articles and appliances may be allowed by a local authority at a rate not exceeding the following-- |
||||||||||||||||
A--MOVABLE COMB HIVE. |
||||||||||||||||
|
||||||||||||||||
B--FIXED COMB HIVE. |
||||||||||||||||
|
||||||||||||||||
(2) Compensation under this Regulation in respect of the destruction of bees shall not exceed £25 per hive". |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||||||||||||||||
This Order increases compensation payable by Local Authorities for bees or equipment infested with foul brood disease and compulsorily destroyed. |
