I, CONOR CRUISE O'BRIEN, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 2 , 3 and 6 of the Post Office (Amendment) Act, 1969 (No. 18 of 1969), and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby order as follows :
|

|
1. (1) This Warrant may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 19) Warrant, 1974.
|
|
|
(2) This Warrant shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1974.
|
|
|
2. In this Warrant "the Principal Warrant" means the Inland Post Warrant, 1939 (S.R. & 0., No. 202 of 1939).
|
|
|
3. Regulation 23 (2) of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for "fourteen new pence" (inserted by Regulation 4 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 17) Warrant, 1971 ( S.I. No. 31 of 1971 )) of "twenty-five new pence".
|
|
|
4. Regulation 49 of the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for "£20" of "£50".
|
|
|
5. The First Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 3 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 18) Warrant, 1973 ( S.I. No. 155 of 1973 ) ) of the entries in the First Schedule to this Warrant.

|
|
6. The Second Schedule to the Principal Warrant (inserted by Regulation 8 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 17) Warrant, 1971, and amended by Regulation 4 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 18) Warrant, 1973) is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Warrant.

7. The Third Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 9 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 17) Warrant, 1971) of the entries in the Third Schedule to this Warrant.
|
|
|
8. The Fourth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 5 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 18) Warrant, 1973) of the entries in the Fourth Schedule to this Warrant.
|
|
|
9. The Fifth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 11 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 17) Warrant, 1971) of the entries in the Fifth Schedule to this Warrant.
|
|
|
10. The Second Schedule to the Inland Post Amendment (No. 11) Warrant, 1962 ( S.I. No. 66 of 1962 ), is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (inserted by Regulation 12 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 17) Warrant, 1971) of the entries in the Sixth Schedule to this Warrant.

11. Regulation 7 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 4) Warrant, 1953 ( S.I. No. 279 of 1953 ), as amended by Regulation 13 of the Inland Post Amendment (No. 17) Warrant, 1971, is hereby further amended by the substitution for "five new pence" of "twenty new pence".

12. The Inland Post Amendment (No. 5) Warrant, 1953 ( S.I. No. 248 of 1953 ), is hereby amended by the substitution of the following for Regulation 5:
|
|
|
"5. The provisions of the Principal Warrant with reference to the prepayment of postage shall not apply to:--
|
|
|
( a ) business reply packets or
|
|
|
( b ) postage and fees payable on postal packets with respect to which the Minister has entered into an arrangement with the senders thereof for the grant of credit facilities,
|
|
|
and as respects a business reply packet, the postage charged, if not prepaid, shall be the postage otherwise chargeable thereon and, in addition to postage, a fee of one halfpenny shall also be charged."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.
|
|
|
This Warrant applies to the Inland Post service and comes into operation on the 1st October, 1974. It authorises increases in the letter, postcard, printed packet, newspaper, sample packet and parcel post rates of postage and in the fees charged for registration, customs clearance and other miscellaneous services.
