SOCIAL WELFARE ACT, 1973 (COMMENCEMENT OF SECTION 12) ORDER, 1974.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by subsection (2) of section 12 of the Social Welfare Act, 1973 (No. 10 of 1973) hereby orders as follows:--

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1973 (Commencement of Section 12) Order, 1974.

2. Section 12 of the Social Welfare Act, 1973 , shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1974.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order abolishes the remuneration limit for social insurance by bringing into operation from 1 April, 1974, the provisions of section 12 of the Social Welfare Act, 1973 , which provides that employment, otherwise than by way of manual labour, at a rate of remuneration exceeding in value £1,600 a year would cease to be an employment excepted from insurance under the Social Welfare Act, 1952 .
