I, JOSEPH BRENNAN, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 6 and 57 of the Factories Act, 1955 (No. 10 of 1955), and the Labour (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 164 of 1966 ), after due compliance with the provisions of the Third Schedule to that Act, hereby make the following regulations: |

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Manufacture of Glass Bottles and Pressed Glass Articles (Welfare) Regulations, 1972. |
||
2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of December, 1972. |
||
3. These Regulations shall apply to every factory in which the manufacture of glass bottles or pressed glass articles is carried on. |
||
4. (1) The occupier shall provide and maintain for the use of all persons employed and remaining in a factory to which these Regulations apply during the meal intervals a suitable messroom which shall be furnished with-- |
||
(a) sufficient tables and chairs or benches with back rests, |
||
(b) adequate means of warming food and boiling water, and |
||
(c) suitable facilities for washing, comprising a sufficient supply of clean towels, soap and warm water. |
||
(2) The messroom required to be provided by this regulation shall be sufficiently warmed for use during meal intervals. |
||
(3) The said messroom shall be separate from the cloakroom and shall be placed under the charge of a responsible person and shall he kept clean. |
||
5. The Glass Bottle etc. Manufacture Welfare Order, 1918, (S.R. and 0. 1918 No. 558) is hereby revoked. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
These regulations require that suitable messrooms be made available for the use of persons employed in factories manufacturing glass bottles or pressed glass articles. |
