TOMATOES (REGULATION OF EXPORT) ORDER, 1970 |

I, JAMES M. GIBBONS, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 2 of the Agricultural and Fishery Products (Regulation of Export) Act, 1947 (No. 18 of 1947), as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1965 ) hereby order as follows:-- |

1. This Order may be cited as the Tomatoes (Regulation of Export) Order, 1970. |
||
2. This Order shall come into operation of the 15th day of June, 1970. |
||
3. The references to tomatoes in the following Articles of this Order shall be construed as references to tomatoes which have not been subjected to any form of processing other than grading or packing. |
||
4. Subject to Article 5 of this Order, the export of tomatoes save under and in accordance with a licence in that behalf issued by the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries under the Agricultural and Fishery Products (Regulation of Export) Act, 1947 , is hereby prohibited. |
||
5. This Order shall not apply to tomatoes being exported as part of a traveller's personal luggage. |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE |
||
The effect of this Order is that on and from 15th June, 1970, licences will be necessary for the commercial export of tomatoes, to ensure that the produce is correctly graded and labelled. |
