IMPORTATION OF DOGS AND CATS (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1969. |

I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 , 10 and 33 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), hereby order as follows : |
||
1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Importation of Dogs and Cats (Amendment) Order, 1969. |
||
(2) The Principal Order and this Order may be cited together as the Importation of Dogs and Cats Orders, 1929 and 1969. |
||
2. In this Order " the Principal Order " means the Importation of Dogs and Cats Order of 1929 ( S. R. & O. No. 4 of 1929 ). |
||
3. Article 2 (1) and paragraphs (a) and (b) of Article 4 (1) of the Principal Order are each hereby amended by the substitution of " eight months " for " six calendar months". |
||
4. Where, immediately before this Order came into force, a detention and isolation under Article 2 of the Principal Order was in progress, the period for which the dog or cat shall be detained and isolated is hereby extended by two months. |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
This Order extends from six months to eight months the statutory minimum period of detention and isolation which imported canine and feline animals must undergo at approved quarantine premises. |
||
