TOURIST TRAFFIC ACT, 1939 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1969.

TOURIST TRAFFIC ACT, 1939 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1969.

I, ERSKINE H. CHILDERS, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 37B (inserted by the Tourist Traffic Act, 1966 (No. 3 of 1966) ) of the Tourist Traffic Act, 1939 (No. 24 of 1939), and the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) (No. 2) Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 246 of 1961 ), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Tourist Traffic Act, 1939 (Commencement) Order, 1969.

2. The 1st day of May, 1969, is hereby appointed to be the day on which section 37B (inserted by the Tourist Traffic Act, 1966 (No. 3 of 1966)) of the Tourist Traffic Act, 1939 (No. 24 of 1939), shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of the Instrument is that as from 1st May, 1969, it will be illegal for the proprietor or occupier of any premises to describe or hold out the premises as a caravan site, caravan park, caravan camp, caravan centre, caravan estate, caravan court, caravantel, camping site, camping park, camping centre, camping estate, camping court or autocamp unless the premises are registered in the register of caravan and camping sites maintained by Bord Fáilte Éireann.
