FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE (RESTRICTION ON THE MOVEMENT OF PERSONS) ORDER (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1968.

FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE (RESTRICTION ON THE MOVEMENT OF PERSONS) ORDER (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1968.

I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction on the Movement of Persons) Order (Amendment) Order, 1968.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 13th day of March, 1968.

2. The Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction on the Movement of Persons) Order, 1968 ( S.I. No. 25 of 1968 ), is hereby amended by the substitution of the following for Article 2:

"2 In this Order 'animals' means--

( a ) cattle, goats, sheep and all other ruminating animals, and

( b ) swine".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order amends the Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction on the Movement of Persons) Order, 1968 so as to provide that the definition of animals therein shall not include horses or other equine animals and, in consequence, removes the restrictions applicable under that Order to persons who within the 21 days immediately preceding their arrival in this country have in Britain been in contact with horses, on premises in which products derived from horses are handled or processed or on land or premises to which horses had access.
