FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE (MERCHANT SHIPPING) ORDER, 1968. |

I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, by virtue of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), hereby, for the prevention of the spreading of foot and mouth disease, order as follows: |

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Foot and Mouth Disease (Merchant Shipping) Order, 1968. |
||
(2) The Principal Order, the Foot and Mouth Disease (Merchant Shipping) (Amendment) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 298 of 1967 ), and this Order may be cited together as the Foot and Mouth Disease (Merchant Shipping) Orders, 1967 and 1968. |
||
2. In this Order "the Principal Order" means the Foot and Mouth Disease (Merchant Shipping) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 264 of 1967 ). |
||
3. Article 4 of the Principal Order shall be construed and have effect as if, "within the twenty-eight days immediately preceding its arrival at a port in the State" were substituted for "on or after the 31st October 1967". |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The effect of this Order is to provide that the Foot and Mouth Disease (Merchant Shipping) Order, 1967, shall apply only to vessels which have been in a port in Great Britain, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man within the twenty-eight days immediately preceding arrival at a port in this country. |
