S.I. No. 154/1964:

APPRENTICESHIP ACT (DESIGNATED TRADE) (ENGINEERING AND METAL TRADE) ORDER, 1964.

APPRENTICESHIP ACT (DESIGNATED TRADE) (ENGINEERING AND METAL TRADE) ORDER, 1964.

An Cheard-Chomhairle, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by subsection (1) of section 21 of the Apprenticeship Act, 1959 (No. 39 of 1959), hereby orders as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Apprenticeship Act (Designated. Trade) (Engineering and Metal Trade) Order, 1964.

2. The engineering and metal trade, in so far as it consists of--

The measuring, making, joining, forming, installing, commissioning, inspecting, dismantling, repairing, overhauling, replacing, adjusting, or altering of engineering components, apparatus, plant, machinery, or appliances,

is hereby declared to be a designated trade for the purposes of the Apprenticeship Act, 1959 (No. 39 of 1959), throughout the State.

GIVEN under the Seal of An Cheard-Chomhairle, this 29th day of June, 1964.

and

PATRICK O'BRIEN,

An officer of An Cheard-Chomhairle authorised by An Cheard-Chomhairle to act in that behalf.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of this Order is to bring the arrangements for the recruitment and training of apprentices in the skilled trades in the Engineering and Metal Industry under statutory control throughout the State.

The detailed operations and/or functions proper to apprentice training in the constituent trades in the Industry shall be set out in rules relating to training as are required to be made pursuant to Section 29 of the Apprenticeship Act, 1959 .
