I, ERSKINE H. CHILDERS, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (6) of section 14 of the Transport Act, 1958 (No. 19 of 1958), and the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), hereby order as follows :-- |

1. This Order may be cited as the Transport Act, 1958 (Section 14 (6) ) (No. 2) Order, 1963. |
||
2. Section 14 (which provides for the compensation of employees of Córas Iompair Éireann whose services are dispensed with or conditions worsened in certain circumstances) of the Transport Act, 1958 (No. 19 of 1958), is hereby extended to any case to which Article 3 applies. |
||
3. This Article applies to any case in which, within the period commencing on the 8th day of May, 1963, and ending on the 15th day of July, 1963, the services of a conductor or driver employed in that department of Córas Iompair Éireann comprising road passenger transport services, being an officer or servant of Córas Iompair Éireann, are dispensed with or he is transferred to another position because of redundancy arising from the scheme for the re-organisation and more economical operation (consisting of the operation on schedule services of omnibuses without conductors) of that department affecting workers employed in the grades of conductor and driver in that department. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The purpose of the Order is to extend the redundancy compensation provisions of the Transport Act, 1958 , to redundancy affecting bus conductors and drivers arising from the introduction by C.I.E. of one-man buses on scheduled services. |
||
