S.I. No. 52/1963:

UNDERSIZED SEA-FISH (LOBSTERS) ORDER, 1963.

UNDERSIZED SEA-FISH (LOBSTERS) ORDER, 1963.

I, BRIAN Ó LUINEACHÁIN, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Lands, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 225 and 230 of the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act, 1959 (No. 14 of 1959), and the Fisheries (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 258 of 1961 ), hereby order as follows :

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Undersized Sea-fish (Lobsters) Order, 1963.

(2) This Order shall come into force on the 1st day of May, 1963.

2. Any lobster, the body-shell of which is less than 83 millimetres in length when measured from the rear of either eye-socket to the rear of the body-shell (along a line parallel to the centreline of the body) shall, for the purposes of Chapter III of Part XIII of the Fisheries (Consolidation) Act, 1959 (No. 14 of 1959), be undersized.

3. So much of the Undersized Sea-fish (Crabs and Lobsters) Order, 1951 ( S.I. No. 359 of 1951 ), as refers to lobsters is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order declares a new minimum size limit for lobsters from 1 May, 1963.
