S.I. No. 343/1953:

MERCHANT SHIPPING (SAFETY CONVENTION) (COUNTRIES OF APPLICATION) ORDER, 1953.

MERCHANT SHIPPING (SAFETY CONVENTION) (COUNTRIES OF APPLICATION) ORDER, 1953.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 4 of the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) Act, 1952 (No. 29 of 1952), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) (Countries of Application) Order, 1953.

2. It is hereby declared :--

(a) that the government of each of the countries mentioned in First Schedule hereto has accepted the Safety Convention ;

(b) that the Safety Convention extends to each of the territories mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE

Countries the Governments of which have accepted the Safety Convention :--

Belgium

Netherlands

Canada

New Zealand

Chile

Norway

Denmark

Pakistan

Finland

Philippines

France

Portugal

Iceland

Spain

India

Sweden

Israel

Union of South Africa

Italy

United Kingdom

Japan

United States of America

Liberia

Yugoslavia

Viet Nam

SECOND SCHEDULE

Territories to which Safety Convention extends.

Alaska, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Puerto Rico, Spanish Protectorate of Morocco and the Spanish Colonies, Somaliland.
