EMERGENCY IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (No. 305) (PAPER) ORDER, 1953. |

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Emergency Imposition of Duties Act, 1932 (No. 16 of 1932), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows : |
||
1. This Order may be cited as the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 305) (Paper) Order, 1953. |
||
2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order. |
||
3. The Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 193) Order, 1939 ( S. R. & O. No. 190 of 1939 ), as amended by the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 237) Order, 1949 ( S.I. No. 3 of 1949 ) (which Order, as so amended, imposes a duty of customs on certain paper) is, as respects articles imported on or after the 17th day of April, 1953, hereby further amended as follows : |

(i) in Article 3 " nine pounds " shall be substituted for " twelve pounds ", |
||
(ii) paragraphs (e), (f), (g), (h), (i), (j), (k), (l), (n), (o) and (q) of Article 3 shall be deleted, and |
||
(iii) the following Article shall be added after Article 9 : |
||
" 10. Where the Revenue Commissioners are satisfied that any article chargeable with the duty imposed by this Order is intended for use in the printing of newspapers, periodicals or paper covered novels, the Revenue Commissioners may, subject to such conditions as they may think fit to impose, allow the article to be imported without payment of the duty imposed by this Order or repay any such duty paid thereon at importation." |
