SUGAR (PROHIBITION OF IMPORT) ORDER, 1944.

SUGAR (PROHIBITION OF IMPORT) ORDER, 1944.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 2 and 5 of the Sugar (Control of Import) Act, 1936 (No. 16 of 1936), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :

Short Title

1. This Order may be cited as the Sugar (prohibition of Import) Order, 1944.

Interpretation.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

Prohibition of import of sugar

3. The importation into the State in the period from the 1st day of May, 1944, to the 30th day of April, 1945, of sugar not manufactured or produced in the State is hereby prohibited, save under and in accordance with a licence in that behalf granted under the Sugar (Control of Import) Act, 1936 (No. 16 of 1936).

Exemption.

4. Sugar imported into the State by parcel post and shown, to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners, to be imported for the personal use of the person to whom it is sent, shall be exempted from the prohibition effected by this Order.
