Medical assistance in case of emergency. 33.(1) The Council shall make rules defining the emergencies in which a midwife shall call in a doctor to her assistance. (2) Where there is an emergency, as defined in rules made under subsection (1), a midwife shall call in to her assistance a doctor under contract with a [Health and Social Services Board] to provide maternity medical services for the purposes of [Article 56 of the Health and Personal Social Services (Northern Ireland) Order 1972].
