      FOOD

      The Colours in Food (Amendment) (Scotland) Regulations 2000

        Made 28th April 2000 
        Laid before the Scottish Parliament 9th May 2000 
        Coming into force 30th June 2000 

      The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 6(4), 16(1)(a) and (e), 17(1), 26(1) and (3) and 48(1) of, and paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 to, the Food Safety Act 1990[1] and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, and after consultation in accordance with section 48(4) of that Act with such organisations as appear to them to be representative of interests likely to be substantially affected by the following Regulations, hereby make the following Regulations:

      Citation, commencement and extent
           1.  - (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Colours in Food (Amendment) (Scotland) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 30th June 2000.

          (2) These Regulations extend to Scotland only.

      Amendment of the Colours in Food Regulations 1995
          
      2. The Colours in Food Regulations 1995[2] shall be amended by the addition, at the end of the definition of "Directive 95/45/EC" in regulation 2(1), of the words "as amended by Commission Directive 1999/75/EC[3]".

      EXPLANATORY NOTE

      (This note is not part of the Regulations)

      These Regulations, which extend to Scotland only, amend the Colours in Food Regulations 1995 by bringing up to date a reference to Directive 1995/45/EC laying down specific criteria concerning colours for use in foodstuffs so as to cover its amendment by Directive 1999/75/EC, which changed the specification for "E160a(i) Mixed Carotenes".
